GuestI’ve been having trouble with the steering on my car for a few weeks now and I’ve finally decided I can’t keep putting it off, mainly because it’s starting to feel genuinely unsafe and I don’t want to risk something failing while I’m driving. It’s a 2017 Infiniti Q50 and the problem started as a slight stiffness when turning at low speeds, the kind of thing you notice in a car park but forget about once you’re on the open road. Then last week it got noticeably worse and there’s now a groaning noise when I turn the wheel, plus a slight vibration through the steering column that wasn’t there before. I checked the power steering fluid and it was low, which I topped up, but the noise hasn’t gone away and I suspect there’s a leak somewhere that’s letting it escape. What I’m looking for is a decent Infiniti steering repair centre near ICAD, somewhere that will actually diagnose whether it’s the pump, the rack, or just a leaking hose, rather than quoting me for the most expensive option straight away. I’ve had bad experiences with garages before jumping to conclusions, and I don’t want to pay for a new rack if a much simpler fix would sort it out. I’d also like someone who’ll check the whole system properly and not just top up the fluid and send me on my way, because that’s what the last place did and the problem came straight back. Has anyone here actually had steering work done on an Infiniti in the ICAD area and been happy with the result? I’d really appreciate hearing what they found, roughly what it cost, and whether the fix actually lasted. Any genuine recommendations would mean a lot because I want to get this sorted properly before something worse happens.
